So how are your window casings? Clean and sparkly? Today and tomorrow we're going to tackle window treatments - you can decide how you'd like to split it up. I'm doing my first floor today and the second floor tomorrow.
Today's task is very dependent on what type of window treatment you have, but regardless you'll probably need to get out your vacuum cleaner and hose attachment. If you have a cool little tool like this one, even better.
If you don't have window blinds or window treatments, take the day off, dust your house, or come to my house and help me. Those of us that have them, we're going to be tackling the most annoying thing to clean (in my opinion). There are many ways to clean window blinds. If you have metal blinds, you can take them down and spray them off in your bathtub. Lay them flat on a towel (on the floor) to dry. My blinds are faux wood so I can't do that - I'll be wiping them off one by one. To make this a bit easier, I'm going to start the process with my vacuum cleaner and the cool attachment pictured above. Start at the top of your window treatments and move down to the bottom - always clean like this. Once I have them vacuumed, I'm going to take a wet microfiber towel, some Basic H2 and go to town wiping each one individually. You could use wipes too. If that gets old (which it will in about 2.2 minutes) you could a.) close them and wipe the surface - not as thorough but okay, b.) turn on some music, c.) enlist help, or d.) go grab a cup of coffee. Can you tell I'm not into the blinds? If you don't have blinds, but have a different type of window treatment, vacuum, wash, whatever it takes to get them CLEAN! Anyway, I will be cleaning them today and tomorrow - it makes it easier knowing that I'm not the only one! Thanks for joining me - seriously, wow!
Don't forget about today's daily tasks - Tuesday is dusting day(if you need more details on today's daily tasks, go here):

I'm so inspired after reading your posts, but then I realize I have a brand new baby, two homeschooled elementary aged kids and a 4 year old and lose all motivation. I know things will be easier after the baby gets older, but until then, you have me dreaming of a clean house!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is helping me so much following along with you and the others doing this! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am a little late to the party - but I think I'll still join! :) I came here to look at some of your printables, and I'm excited to have the chance to WIN some! Even though you're already on week 2, I have a very small house (with NO blinds, thank goodness!) so I have hopes that I can catch up quickly! Thanks for helping me make my new years cleaning WAY more fun! :)
