How to: Organize a Linen Closet for Free, Part 2

Last week I re-organized our main linen closet and talked about it here in this post.  It was such a quick and easy project that I took on the linen closet in a kids' bathroom that same afternoon.  Why am I sharing this with you?  Hopefully it inspires you to not wait until you have the 'perfect' organizational tools ( baskets, bins, labels, etc.) before tidying up a closet or space.  It's not that I don't love the way all that eye candy looks, but right now I'd like to concentrate on just organizing the space so it works for us.

Before
The jumbled towels are the worst of the mess, I emptied out the closet, sorted through the towels and designated specific spots for the stuff - this took no more than 10-15 minutes from start to finish.

After
Now if you notice, all I did was sort and group like items and it totally tidied up the space.  I added the diapers and wipes because I made room for them and now didn't have to store them in my little one's closet.

How 'bout it - is there a space that you haven't organized because you didn't have the cute baskets and bins?  I think you should try just sorting and grouping - it's surprising how organized a space can look just with those two 'techniques'.

  1. Unfortunately my linen closet has to be a linen/utility closet at the same time. I wish I had so much extra space as you had in yours. Mine is PACKED! Ugh. I need to work on it but it is really daunting because there's really no place else for a lot of that stuff. Gotta love renting a place that has almost no storage. lol

  2. I've actually being doing the same thing around my place. I've bought very few things to organize with but already it's looking so much better around here.
