So I have an ugly mailbox. Which is fine - my self-worth is not defined by what my mailbox looks like. But it has been bugging me. I'd love a mailbox made out of stone with a little spot for the mailbox itself (you know the ones). However, I have about $5 in the budget for a mailbox renovation so I didn't call the local mason for an estimate. But I did run up to my local Wal-Mart and grab a can of this:
Have you used this stuff? No sanding or priming and it works on plastic, wood, metal, etc. Perfect!
Here's the ugly mailbox before (notice the rusty post):
I taped up the little "take my mail" flag with painter's tape (see how faded it was?):
I sprayed away:
And here's the finished mailbox:
Much better. What have you spray painted lately? I'm linking this up to some of my favorite linky parties this week, go and check them out!
That looks so much better, sometimes the littlest things look soo much better!! I need to do mine also!!
ReplyDeleteNooo, why?
ReplyDeleteIt was so shabby chic.
Wasn't it? ;)
What a great idea! My mailbox post is in need of a good coat of paint, and that Fusion looks great for just that. Sanding and priming is for the birds!
ReplyDeleteLooks sooo much better. You've inspired me to do mine, now, too!
ReplyDeletewe painted our mailbox like this last spring. it makes such a difference. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Becky! I am going to try that paint out on my son's headboard! I bought different spray paint, but I think that is what i need! Thanks for a great post!
ReplyDeleteOooh la la! Too bad my mailbox is a mini version of my house, that's crooked. I love how spray paint can fix everything. Found you via Sumo's Sweet Stuff party.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what a little paint can do, isn't it? The price can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteI did a very similar project last week! Great minds think alike!

OH, I love it! I wanted to stencil/paint the house numbers on the mailbox but someone objected :) Love the idea of the vinyl ones!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about doing the same thing and adding vinyl from my Cricut machine! I glad to see it comes out great!
ReplyDeleteIs that the same mailbox? Really? Wow! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, easy transformation... don't you just love paint!
ReplyDeleteThis is great- I have never had a postal box in any place I have ever lived (just realized that RIGHT NOW).
ReplyDeleteAnyway you did a great job-
Nice to meet you!
That looks great. It is a great alternative and a lot cheaper!! Thanks for sharing at 'Look at me, I'm SO Crafty!' at Fun to Craft.
