update: check out this post to see my updated recipe binders
If you haven't seen this post on how I sort/organize/collect/gather recipes, you should go and take a peek. I'm getting ready to do another blog event for September (Meal Planning) and I needed to sort through some recipes to file, make some copies and clean out my binder a bit.
I like to check out cookbooks from the library and make copies of some recipes that look good or interesting.
I sorted through the recipes and put keepers in the binders and ones to try in the pockets of the binders. I tossed the recipes that don't need to be repeated.
Any other recipe binder fans out there?
Anyone want to FINALLY get a meal planning system in place?
During the month of September it's going to be Meal Planning Month at Clean Mama. I have a simple system in place that works so well for our family that I'm going to share it with you. Would you like to get this meal thing under control so you can sit down, relax and enjoy your family time?
I am sooooooo happy to hear that September is Meal Planning Month!! I have a binder to keep track of all the recipes I've torn out, printed off and copied. But my meal planning goes like this "What do I feel like eating this week?" No set plan at all...and i typically don't feel like making or eating what I've "planned" to have. With number 2 on the way, I definitly have to get on the ball with meal planning!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this!!! This is what I need the most help with!!! YEAH!
ReplyDeleteI love my recipe box and can't wait to learn more about meal planning.
ReplyDeleteThanks - this post inspired me to "clean up" my recipe binder. I blogged about it here:

I'm loving the scrapbook paper idea, it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteI like to make a 28 day menu on one sheet of paper and make sure you number them per line.
Then on another sheet of paper, write out all the ingredients for each recipe, remember to number them as well.
That way when you decide which recipes you'd like to fix for the upcoming week, you can just match up the numbers and have you're grocery list all ready to go!
It makes writing out a grocery list a much easier task to deal with each week/bi-weekly.
I'm really looking forward to September and seeing all of you're ideas!
I have been a 'stalker' of you're blog now for weeks and just want to say, I check in on a daily basis to see what great ideas and tips you have to share!!
Thank-you for taking time out of you're busy day to keep you're blog fans happy!! :o)
Warmly,
Michelle in Tennessee
I LOVE my recipe binder! Mine is divided into:
ReplyDeleteSunday Dinner
Meatless Monday
Family Night Treats
Crock-Pot (for Thursdays)
Restaurant-Inspired (for Fridays)
Make It Quick (for Saturdays)
With other categories like chicken, pork, beef, side dishes, desserts, drinks...
This has helped a ton with menu planning.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I am a huge binder fan!! I have a sticker binder, stencil binder, recipe binder, coupon binder, sewing binder, decorating binder, home journal binder and maybe a few more...but I think you get the idea!! I love finding white binders at garage sales and keeping them stashed away for future use.
ReplyDeleteWow - thanks for all the great feedback! I'm so excited to work on meal planning with my readers in September.
ReplyDeleteI have a some-what organized binder. I'm excited to see what you have in store! I found that recipes were getting lost because I didn't have time to write them down. The binder allows me to keep things torn out of magazines or recipes of various sizes more easily. Thanks for the inspiration
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Love recipe binders, and looking so forward to your posts in September!
ReplyDeleteAdding to my DONE list....sort through recipes.
