Blogland really needs another tutorial of how to convert a canning jar into a soap dispenser, so here's how I made a cute soap dispenser out of an old Ball quart size jar.
I used the small mouth variety to keep the soap drips down the side to a minimum.
I drew a circle of where I should aim my tools.
Spray painted the lid.
Pushed the ring into the hole - went the wrong way the first time, figured it out with only a couple dings - spray painted again.
Screwed the fancy soap pump top into the ring.
Took a picture in the grass.
Here it is on the counter - serving its mission of making my counter cuter.
You have a funny sense of humor. I saw this for the first time this morning, and love this idea! The turquoise jars are so pretty. :-) Yours is doing a great job pretty-ing up your counter!
ReplyDeleteI know this really has nothing to do with the soap dispenser, really cute btw, but I love the sponge holder in your sink! Where did you get that? I need one! I hate having to sit the sponge on the corner of the sink...yuck...germs!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE mason jars....I saw one of these dispensers for the first time when I visited The Nest near Burlington, IA. I wondered how they did it!
ReplyDeleteCute idea. I love your sink area. Mine is similar and I'm never quiet sure what to do in my window space (I don't think my ledge is as wide as yours). I'm following you now on GFC and found you via Girl Creative
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and fun idea!!
ReplyDeleteShawn-
ReplyDeletethe jars I've had for YEARS - look at garage sales, antique stores, flea markets...
Love your tutorials. Not only useful, but entertaining to boot. I would have done the "nail thing" too, as my drill is never charged.

ReplyDeletefantastic project and you can't go wrong with a Ball jar!!!
They are so fabulous!!
=)
These are great, especially if you collect them. Putting all the Ball jars or even blue glass peices together and then having one function as a soap dispenser is such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteToo funny- great description of your hole-making technique. Love it! This is a great idea. Thanks so much for sharing.
