ZONE CLEANING - WEEK 1/ DAY 4

So we've come to the final quarter in our first playoff game.  I'm motivated to finish the game, but tired.  My final cupboard is the worst and it might require some overtime.  Here it is, my FIRST QUARTER (Thursday) cupboard - BEFORE:

I love the potential that this cupboard has.  It's to the left of my 'fridge, to the left of my cookbook bookcase and it could be so functional.  Now it hides some cookbooks and binders but mostly just is a good place to hide stuff in a hurry.  So today, I'm tackling it once and for all.  The one thing that I won't be changing is the cord storage that I stuck up on the inside of the left-hand door.  You know all those little cords that you use frequently that get tangled in drawers and no one can ever find when they need them?  I attached those little 3M mini plastic hooks (the ones that pull off easily) and just hung the cords up.  Great solution to an annoying problem.  Enough procrastinating....on to the cleaning frenzy.

Step 1: Set timer for 15 minutes

Step 2: Empty cupboard - I love this step!  Empty space - full of potential.

Step 3: Quickly sort into three stacks (toss, relocate, and put back into cupboard)

Step 4: Spray down cupboard with Basic H2 (all-purpose formulation) and wipe clean with a rag

Step 5: Organize the space.....

Time's Up!  Throw away toss bag and put your "relocate" items away.

After:

I really love how this space came out - my recipe binders are upright and at the ready.  I'm trying to decide if I need a paper holder for recipes that I find online and am going to try or haven't filed yet.  It's hard to be a Pioneer Woman fan - so many recipes, so little time.

I have a little "overtime" planned for tomorrow - hope you can join me or just stop by to see me sweat.

  1. Well done, however it was not so bad in the beginning. Besides, I'm a bit envious of all your free space!

  3. feeling better today, so i was not de cluttering today but things done. We keep our bread flour in tuperware (like you would store clothes in). Well my flour container was almost empty so I got it all cleaned out and ready for the move.

  5. Wow, the cupboards look so great in the after photo!
Honestly, I've been a bad cleaner this week. I got overwhelmed with my kitchen so today I just started. But, I will get the other 3 15 minutes done before the weekend is up so I'm ready for next week.
