Decorate Your Yogurt

Say what?  It's Decorating Week at the Clean Mama Blog and I thought a little yogurt chat might be fun.  My kids and I eat a lot of yogurt.  We have it with our breakfast or lunch just about everyday.  I also use it weekly in the kitchen - salad dressings, smoothies, quick breads, and pancakes.  Yum!  Buying a large container of yogurt is a great money-saver (as long as you know you'll finish it within a week of opening).

My absolute favorite is Stonyfield Farm Plain Cream Top or Plain Low Fat Yogurt because I can bake and cook with it and eat it during the week.  I also like the fact that I can control the sweeteners that are in it.

So what do we add to yogurt?  My kids like the plain yogurt with a squirt of honey and dried cranberries, I like a little strawberry jam in mine.  Here's a list of some of our  favorite mix-ins:
  • honey
  • maple syrup
  • vanilla extract
  • fresh fruit (berries, peaches, and bananas)
  • dried fruit
  • granola
  • chocolate chips
  • cinnamon sugar
  • jam or jelly
  • almonds or walnuts
And here's my dessert.

  1. mmm...great ideas for a healthy snack! I just started putting honey in my Greek yogurt and I was surprised at how yummy is was! It's nice to create your own flavors when the store-bought ones get kinda boring...
