Vases That Aren't Vases

I like to arrange flowers in vases (that aren't really vases) through the house.  It gives a little unexpected freshness and a pop of color.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

A couple arranging tips:

go out in your yard or patio garden and pick flowers, herbs, and leaves that appeal to you

arrange in odd numbers (flowers, leaves, vases)

use unexpected vases - drinking glasses, canning jars, old milk and cream bottles, tea cups....

strip bottom leaves off the flower stems to prolong the shelf life of the flowers

(lavender, cat mint, hosta leaves, mini daisies, and herbs for tonight's dinner)

What's your favorite vase that isn't a vase?

  1. Old vanilla bottles are great for single, small blooms. We used them at a dinner party as place cards by hanging a tag around the neck of the bottle. Pretty pop of color!
