Day 4 - 31 Days to a Clean House

Welcome back - it's Day 4 of 31 Days to a Clean House!
I made a printable for us to track our progress, you could just take it and run, but I think you'll like the daily motivation and tips and tricks that this series will provide. So come back every day for the assignment and check off your progress as we go. You can go here to grab the free printable.

Today and tomorrow's task is to wash baseboards - I divided it up into two days because this is a time consuming job.  Yesterday we vacuumed edges, so the job will be a little easier, but it can still be divided up into two days.  Feel free to divide your house up any way you see fit - first floor today, 2nd floor tomorrow, 3 rooms today and 4 rooms tomorrow....

If you follow my cleaning routine, today is floor washing day, so baseboards are the perfect task for today.

Once you've decided where you'll tackle today, you need to decide on your method of attack.

Here are 3 ways to clean your baseboards:
  • Magic Erasers and soapy, warm water
  • microfiber towel and soapy, warm water
  • non-toxic cleaning wipe or baby wipes (my favorite method - it's the quickest and easiest and I can usually enlist some little helpers)
I start at the top of the baseboards and work to the bottom, scrubbing until they are clean.  Another trick that I use is to put a piece of painter's tape to mark where I need to touch up the white trim after the baseboards are clean.

If you want to keep up on other daily cleaning tasks using my simple routine you can check out my free October cleaning schedule - to learn more about my cleaning routine and how I make cleaning a little bit every day an easy and manageable thing that we do. I have more free printables here too!

  1. Ooh, I think I'm ahead on this one--my kids have rotating chores to do before school, and some of them are to wipe baseboards in different rooms with a baby wipe!
