Easy Summer Organizing Project - A Warranty File

I don't know about you, but summer is not a time when I tackle any heavy duty organizing projects.  I like things to be easy and breezy so we're sure to  enjoy plenty of time outside and a flexible schedule.  That being said, I think it's a great time to do little tasks that can be done watching a late night movie or on the occasional rainy afternoon or evening.

Enter:  An easy summer organizing project - A Warranty File

Supplies needed:

file folder

marker (if hand-writing labels - I just used the labels that came with the file folder, or label maker)

stapler - to staple receipts and warranties with manuals

Simple Steps to Take:
I collected all the stray warranties in the house - some were in a paper pile, others were with the product, some were in a stack just waiting to be filed

sort through them and throw away warranties of products you no longer have

staple receipts and warranties to the manuals when you can - this is a huge timesaver in the event that you need the manual/warranty/receipt

determine several categories - here are mine - small and large appliances are great places to start
stack your warranties and manuals into categories and assemble warranty file

How about you?  Any easy summer organizing projects you'd like to share?  Tell us about them in the comments!

  1. Great idea! I just emptied out a couple of file folders and I think I'll be using one of them to file our warranties or instruction manuals.
